Our Rolling Journey: Planning or by sheer chance

At our rolling journey, we can choose from different addresses. The route we take is appending to that. At the beginning, we plan addresses in advance. Insecure as we are, we contact friends and family for new addresses. I remember the first time I walk on to a strange and unknown farm. It gave me a lump in the throat and my hart is beating like a drum. Every time it’s a tense moment to find out if, people are willing to have us. Happily, till this time we managed a place to stay.

Route

We also plan a route to a rubber Horseshoe manufacturer. We definitely use some advice from an expert about the difficulties we have with the shoes. By sheer chance we met people we really need.People with helpfully skills to help us further. Like Martin, a retired teacher from a famous horse Educational Institute. He knows everything about nutritional value foods for horses.

South of Holland

On our ways through the south of Holland we met Jenneke and Pieter. A young couple also having a amazing journey with their horse Rena. At the moment they on a nearby farm. The arrangement to keep in contact is rapidly made.

Phone-call

Next we receive a phone-call. Somebody who has plans to make a horse journey too want to meet us. We are driving and want to keep it short. Telling him we just on the move to find a place.

We need an address for several days. The children are coming over to visit us. In this time of year there happens to be carnival en we want to join that as well. His reaction is firm and quick. “I call you later, maybe I know something”!

And he calls back. Found out a place to stay longer. As a surprise he tells there is couple with a wagon. What a coincidence: Yes, Jenneke and Pieter.

Falling from the sky

In a way, making a route, planning or by sheer chance have their own charm. On arranged and expected addresses we receive a warm welcome. With apple pie and coffee, entertaining discussions all evening. People have made especially time for us.

On the other hand, unexpected addresses, like falling from the sky, gives new experiences. At the moment I am painting a big carnival wagon. Together with the family we eat big plates macaroni cheese! This rolling journey keeps on going.
