Relocation from the Caravan to a House?

Relocation, hibernate and over winter all serious options at the moment! When we arrived in Lázi, where the Dutch family lives (see sentimental journey) we start to think. We always knew that driving trough Hungary in the upcoming winter is to cold. Not for the horses but for us it will be too cold on the box. It's September now and before Lázi we planning to travel more south and hire a small house there.

Why not in this place which question pops up after an evening talking to our Dutch host. He knows some houses here to rent.

Cheap

Jacques relocated after his retirement from the Netherlands towards Hungarian. In this country, the houses are really cheap. Every village has ten or more houses staying empty. Young people moves to bigger cities, older people die and no one wants to buy.

Real Estate

Booming Business in Hungary is Real Estate. We discover lots of houses, all empty, all of them for sale, and mostly bought by not native Hungarians.

Luxury

If or when we hire something, we don’t need that much luxury. A shower would be great and a toilet, that’s it!

Within a day, we find something, 2 rooms with a kitchen and a bathroom. We are so lucky! The amount they asking are very low, not even a fifth of the normal renting fee in Holland.

Mailbox

Next morning we arrive at the house. The owners of the house waiting in the doorway inviting us in very friendly. It‘s really strange for us after 11 months in the caravan. In two hours, all our belongings are moved from the caravan into the house. The horses walking on a piece off grassland about 165 feet square.

In the evening, we sit together on the couch. Looking around the room wondering about the living space we have now. We have warm water and a shower, a modern toilet and strange of all a mailbox again!
