My Dreams have come through - with a lot of work and effort

by Ellen
(UK)

Reins of life ?

Reins of life ?

So, now I am sitting here not knowing where to start:
I cannot complain. My dreams I had 20 years ago are real now. Amongst other goals, I dreamed of becoming a vet.
Right now I am starting up my own practice for veterinary acupuncture. The way to fulfillment of this goal was hard and stony. I needed to learn a new language (Hungarian) to study in Budapest. University life was hard because of the Hungarian "hard-core" school system, we all had to learn endless skills and materials and all in Hungarian. But I would take the same route again.
During my sudies, the whole political system in Hungary and the Eastern European countries changed totally, we lived through the process of change from the start on... and sometimes it was breathtaking, sometimes we felt too much was being destroyed. Ethics and rules became worthless, the rude side of capitalism started to destroy a whole society.
Later, I left and after finishing university, I started to work in several practices and countries to get experience. Now I am an experienced mixed animal practitioner with a special interest in alternative ways of pain management and treatments for companion animals.

So, yes, a dream has come through, and although the way to fulfillment was not easy it was worth every tear and laughter. I know, I have not wasted my time and I would do exactly the same again.
