The lifestyle strategy of our choice on this trip is a simple one. Just wait what’s coming on our path. That sounds simple and relaxed. Let me tell you: the real thing on this journey is not relaxed.Sometimes its chaos. We don’t have television (most frequently question!) We make our own soap.
It’s Friday
We look forward to the next day. Planning to meet other travellers with a horse. They stay on a quiet spot at the river and arranged a place for us too. Great.
The place we have belongs to a young mother of three kids. One of them celebrates his birthday on Saturday. We can stay the whole weekend. No problem.
Next morning
We call a vet. Isabella, the youngest horse is terrible ill. Its colic,it can be very dangerous for a horse. We don’t know what course the problem but the vet things it’s the change of weather? . Necessary is to slowdown the intestinal tube. That will reduce the pain she has from the colic.
The host children are running around us helping where they can.
Our “colleague” traveller walks around with Isabella to relieve the colic pain. We make a new coral on a more dry peace of land. It’s raining and Isabella wants to lie down. She is dirty till behind her ears.
The host ask me if I need anything from the store, maybe laundry to do? Yes, please!
The vet is still busy and I make a note, grasp some money and give it to her. Laundry in a bag and there she goes. What a sweet woman.
The vet is gone and we hope for the best everything will stay ok. In one hour we meet a journalist. John tells our story.
Hay
Children around the car want to look inside. With a glass of lemonade they look around with big eyes. I make diner. A man passes by and brings us to a farm to collect hay. Its 10 in the evening. The moon is beautiful. We go to bed dreaming about our “quiet” lifestyle strategy.
Sunday morning
Bounce on the door. We still asleep and we know immediately something is wrong. And wrong it is. Both horses escaped from the fence. Walking now on the nearby road. Like crazy we collect some clothes, jump into the wooden shoes and off we go.
Isabella still is in pain. The vet gave us liquid paraffin for Isabella and believe me its not a funny job to get that in! Finished we are soaked in paraffin. We know movement is the best and we decide to go for a walk. The little village is silent and still at sleep. We walk each with a horse by hand. Its seven thirty in the morning.
After an hour we back at the wagon. We make a new coral again. It’s to muddy for the horses. It s still bad with Isabella. We have to call the vet again. At the same time the neighbours complaining about the coral. We make a new coral.
Its 10 o’clock in the morning.
Birthday
The little boy asks us for birthday cake. John is waiting to be photographed, lifestyle strategie:Just wait what’s coming on our path.I go for the cake. Just 5 minutes later I have to go back. They need me for the picture. We make a friendly smile in to the lens when the vet arrives.
We work away the photographer and welcome the vet. He is also a horse dentist. Thinks the problem comes from her back tooth. With some frightened equipment he gives her a treatment. The hooks on her back tooth are away and smooth again.
A lot of people walk by, its Sunday remember and everyone want to see who we are and what we do.
Quiet lifestyle strategy
I know Isabella wont be sick everyday, we don’t need a vet al the time. An interview is a rarely thing we do. We can't speak of a quiet life but no boredom either! This life is so exciting and we grateful for anyone helping us.
