Lifechanging Thoughts

We have lifechanging thoughts about Austria which affects our journey. Normally we drive in a slow way, step by step and we prefer long quit roads.

Austria at this moment is not quit at all! There are tourists enough and our appearance on the Austria roads attracts many people. People are surprised we traveled all the way with Haflingers from the Netherlands to Austria.

In addition, people are shake of there head when we explain our goal towards the East. Most Austrian people think the world ends at Vienna.

Austria lifechanging thoughts Wacchau Area

This country is beautiful with, big green meadows and especially the Wacchau area is nice with fruitful trees and plenty grapes yards.

The city Linz is also very attractive with a big square full with shops and outdoor cafes loaded with tourist.Around this city, it is difficult to find places to stay and we make more miles then we want to. Luckily, we find a housing association place where we can stay on building lot. The neighbor helps us with our laundry!

Lifechanging thoughts linz austria Make-over

More and more we look for riding's schools to stay because they know what we need. In Mauthausen, we arrive at Peter’s place where two young girls give a makeover to Aysha and Isabella. When they start to braid the horses’ tale, we say no!

In Persenbeug (after a very difficult track), we meet Josef and Lianne. A couple same ages like us in the same situation, recently marriage and with grown up children. We have an enchanting evening talking together about lifechanging thoughts! This place we will not forget easily!

Lifechanging thoughts mauthausen Sausages and Oat

Sometimes we really easy provided with horse food and water. In the little village Dornach the farmer who shows us a meadow brings sausages and oat for the horses. At other times, John is really busy with carrying water on his bike. Not an everyday picture on Austria roads.

The Horses are great and absolutely bombproof. A tunnel and an iron bridge are easily taken!

lifechanging thoughts Negative

Besides the positives, Austria has also negative ones in reserve. Sometimes doors slam in my face when asking for a place to stay. We also experience a nice welcome where we have to pay 15 Euro the next day. Especially around Vienna, we have to pay for a place. In Tulln, we are totally surprised when we leave and have to pay 30 Euro for one night. That’s a lot of money to stay next to the dunghill.

lifechanging thoughts and morning meditation Police

At Emmersdorf, the police let us stop. There is a problem! One mile back a car slipped at the horses dung and crashed against another car. No one is hurt the car is only slightly dented. Luckily, we have horse insurance so we want to make an arrangement.

The policeman, very friendly assures us he doesn’t want to make problems because he likes what we do. He wants us to pay a fine and that’s it! Only later, we realize he never did ask for our name or passport. We pay 20 Euro for what!? It’s not forbidden drive with horses. Only in Vienna, you need poop bags.

Lifechanging thoughts Dornach tunnel Austria

This “money” attitude affects our thoughts about Austria and it is hard not to generalize. We decide to make more miles a day and make the time driving trough Austria a bit shorter. Lifechanging thoughts make us decide to do so and also Hungary is longing.
