Life after the accident. Back to normal?
Five months, and life after the accident is back to normal. Well….almost normal. Because how to go on after a journey of a life time, like we had, interrupted the way it happened in Decin, Czech? Immediately when we rushed home life was hectic and chaos. Our family supported us with shelter and food. They drove miles to get John into the hospital for re-validation.
Innumerable helping hands to furnish our new home and giving all they could spare to let us start all over again. Now, speaking November 2008 our life is pretty much settled again.
John’s recovery went quick. He walks again with no crutches, several bolds and nuts still in his ankle. The horses are sold to a goat farm, where they are pulling a covered wagon in the summer for tourist. We haven’t visited them, because it’s too hard to cope with. Maybe later. There was no chance we could keep them. We live in an upstairs apartment, not knowing what we want in the future. Not knowing if there will be a place for Aysha and Isabella in our new plans. These great, sweet, enormous good performances horses deserves something more than a stable. Working with people, pulling a caravan is their life. They deserve the compliments and good care. Enough said about that, going further I start crying.
Complete overhaul Our carriage is dismantled. The way it came back from Czech was bad. People over there did their best but it’s obvious we can’t do anything with it before a complete overhaul. Again. Already we have replaced or repaired the bottom, the brakes, axel and disk. The interiour is also dismantled because it was partly broken or not efficient enough. After two years living on 7 m2 I know pritty much about what works. So, our old friends Piet and Jannie are helping us to do so. Well helping, it’s more that I help Piet because he is without any doubt the expert and craftsman. We have not made any decision what to do with the caravan. The only thing we know that we want it be complete again. With safe brakes, wheels, chassis and any improvement we want. Working on this carriage is a kind of therapy for me. I have great difficulties coping with all the changes now we are in Holland.
But that’s another story.

Life after the accident is almost back to normal. Almost.
End of: Life after the accident. Back to: Where are we?
