Horse Drawn Vehicle Back in Holland!

horse drawn vehicle

Our horse drawn vehicle is back after a call for help through e-mail.When we realized that there was a possibility to get the caravan back in Holland everything changed.

After the accident, it was hard to believe that the caravan could be repaired. Together with my daughter, I drove the 500 miles back to Czech to collect our personal belongings and all the valuable horse stuff. In agreement with Petr we left the broken vehicle at his place. However, Petr from Czech Republic thought something else.

Give it a try

Petr felt sorry, that our adventure was over that suddenly and decided to give it a try. With two hired carpenters he start working on the horse drawn vehicle and repaired the whole front and back, almost like new!

It came as a blast, when we received his surprisingly and amazing telephone call that the caravan was ready for transport. That moment John was still in the hospital, sitting in his wheelchair. I was visiting him and together we could not think clear, the broken caravan image still on my memory. Thousand questions came up. How on earth could we transport the caravan? Where to store it? Are the adjustments done right? Does transport the caravan justify the amount of money involved with the repairs?

The biggest issue was and is changing and adjusting our mind set. From the devastating accident moment and the solution to left the caravan behind to this opportunity to get it back is major.

The outcome:

Yes, we want to give it a try. Then the whole circus began. How and when to transport the horse drawn vehicle? We asked around learning that a carriage this size cost a fortune to transport, out of our league. Old friends Piet and Jannie, living in a small Dutch town and former host on our travel through the Netherlands started a search. Piet did come up with several possibilities. In the mean time, we wrote a call for help through email and send it into the air, hoping for the best.

Immediately we received several offers to search with us and also very welcome encouragement to keep on. A relieve to lean back and wait, knowing and feeling that there was a big chance for a solution.

Low Loader transport

Within two weeks, we received a phone call from a removal company planner:Jan Tsjerk ( J.T.) Loonstra, the international Traffic manager from UTS Wiersma in leeuwarden.

J.T. wanted the horse drawn vehicle details so he could schedule in the removal! How and where he hear our call for help we didn’t know by then. Indirectly and through friends from friends, everything arranged to transport our caravan back home.

We are very grateful, and thanking the Removal Company UTS Wiersma Leeuwarden for their help!

On the pictures, you see the low-loader which transported our caravan the whole 500 miles from Decin (Czech Republic) to Haaften (Netherlands) hometown of Piet and Jannie. There the caravan stays to further repairs, awaiting decisions, and new adventures.

Mind Boggling Events

In our travel story’s you can read how much hospitality we received on our journey. The amount of help we received through the more than 1900 miles we drove but what happened now beats everything.

On June 30, we moved in to our new home, the horse drawn vehicle came back on the same day and John finally could visit Aysha and Isabella John finally could visit Aysha and Isabella in their current stable. Mind boggling events and overwhelming feelings of gratitude to all the people helping us. Touching moments in just a couple of days, we can hardly cope with. The hurdle is complete again.
