The Haflinger Hurdle is Complete Again

haflinger hurdle Transporting back the Haflinger hurdle (our beloved horses Aysha and Isabella) was a big task to arrange. After the accident in Czech, Petr and Iva take care of them, pending a settlement.

Again with help of friends and family, the arrangements where made. A weekly transport from Hungary to the Netherlands was able to make a detour and collected our Haflingers.

From the minute after the accident on May 13 till June 30, John didn’t see them back. The last image in his mind is himself, hanging and grapping the reins, his body chafing the pasture, desperately trying to steer Aysha and Isabella to the right. After hitting the lantern pole to stop the carriage from rolling and after the caravan wheels broke his ankle he did not see the horses back.

Power Horse Boarding Stable

Through Mariska a good friend and also a horse drawn traveler we received a trustworthy stable address. Toon and Johanneke from Brooijmans Stable, a Horse Power competition competitor and breeder of power horses, willing to take care of our Haflinger horses. There our horses are grazing their meadows in good health and safety.

Finally, after almost seven weeks John was able to visit Aysha and Isabella. Still sitting in his wheelchair not able to walk around them bonding again but nevertheless eager to see them.

Reunited

Words are not enough to express our feelings. The stable girls collected our Haflingers from the meadow and walked them forward to John. Aysha was immediately responding to John’s call. Isabella, as usually a take a wait-and-see approach, but both of them a quiet and soft attitude forward John.

I think the pictures speaks for themselves. The Haflinger hurdle complete again.
