Gipsy Caravan Scope for Originality
With the Gipsy Caravan pulled by two draft horses and we have pass the border from Germany into Austria. This is the homeland of our Haflingers. The weather is beautiful, not to warm, Aysha and Isabella have fun, and they turn their heads not to miss anything. It’s very special to us, made it so far, with the two ladies’ we are curious how friendly Austria will be about horse and carriage driving!
Passau Neue Presse About five miles before the border, we have an appointment with a journalist. She has heard about our travel horses and wants an interview. No problem because of her knowledge about the area. She drives with us on the carriage box, guiding us through the little streets of Passau.
Tourism Season Passau is very nice and it is tourism season! In this little city, three rivers come together. The river Inn, Ilz and the Danube. It has 50.000 inhabitants and a lot of them traveling around us to have a better look on this gipsy caravan! Traffic Jam We have to cross a river and the view on that bridge is overwhelming! At the middle of the bridge the journalist, ask us to wait. In no time, she makes a picture from this Gipsy caravan to be published in the Passau Neue Presse, but do you see the traffic jam behind us!

Passau We really want to see this city so its time to look for a place. It’s funny we almost like hawks. Every bit of grassland we observe to see if it is a suitable spot. This time we don’t have to look around, we have luck!. Just 2 miles after Passau, before the border, we see a car passing by, then slowly he drives in front of us. At a gas station, he calls us “in”. The mans first questions is: “do you need water?” the second: “do you need a place?”
Fortune favors the bold!“Only if we can stay for a couple of days!” is our reaction. The man is owner of the gas station and he has a horse. Ludwig is almost 75 and recently he starts with horse driving lessons! Unbelievable. At his place, the carriage can stay as long as we want. We have a little spot at the front, the horses a big coral at the back. Ludwig takes care of them when we explore the city Passau. A spot from heaven!
Almost an RV Lifestyle Now we can stay on this place its almost like we are RV travelers in a carriage RV. In fact before we start this journey much of our information came from that source. We go slowly by horses but the differences in lifestyle aren't that big. A really inspirational book about Rv Lifestyle
is written by Kate Fowler. Particularly when you have doubts about changing your lifestyle it's a must read. Some quotes from the book: * If you are dreaming of a Full-Time RV Life It's time to stop dithering over details! (we thought that's a great one.) * You can trade your same-old, same-old life for a life of adventure on the road! (That's for sure) * Do you dream of waking up with a new backyard every day of the week? One you don't have to mow, rake or otherwise maintain? (This one we loved the most.) Kate Fowler, the autor has teach us a lot you can also use when you travel the way we do!. It does not matter if you own an RV or want to own an RV or want to travel in a horse drawn caravan. John and I used it to learn a lot and it's incredible to travel and fell unbound.

Holiday In the following day, it’s as if we have a holiday ( we like this freedom lifestyle!). Sounds strange for people not knowing how this Gipsy life is. The constantly responsibility regarding the horses can sometimes be difficult. When that is taking of our shoulders, just for a few days, is nice. After these spare day’s this gipsy caravan goes on! Thea
Ludwigs granddaughter is so kind to give a horse shower. Isabella really likes it!
