Caravan seasonal storage in Hungary

After this long journey, we need a caravan seasonal storage on winter break in Hungary.We stay here at least 4 to 6 months and we only hire a little cottage and a stable. The horses, are using the stable so what to do with the caravan?

The only thing we can do, it’s leaving it this way in the garden and protects it as well as we can.

Step by Step

First thing to do is to unload the whole caravan. We take all the blankets and mattresses out and also our cloths. It will be moisture inside now we not living in it for a while and not using any heating.

Next thing is to clean out all the cupboards and taking off the grocery. I like animals but dislike mousses into my breadcrumbs.

Too heavy

All this months I was really disappointing with the carpets we used, it’s too heavy and we should not bought it. When we have time and money, we will replace it with linoleum. Easier to clean and far less weight to pull by our Haflingers.

The caravan tyres are almost new.

We bought them in Germany because they are far cheaper there than in the Netherlands. To pull the wagon easier we filled them up till four atmospheres. Now when not in use, we relieve the air somewhat and we fill them again after the seasonal storage.

One thing to be done

We using a solar panel on the roof as a caravan battery charger.

Normally it’s better to disconnect the battery; however keeping the solar panel connected to the battery is no problem. This way the battery stays fully charged and no harm will do.

OK The caravan is ready for his seasonal storage. One last thing: what shall we do on this winter break?
