We need some Caravan Accessory to rebuild our Horse Drawn Caravan

We need caravan accessory for the wagon we buy. This new home is originally a Zelhem camping wagon previously owned by a old man, a caravan manufacturer and building caravans his whole life. We bought it for $1700. Some of the wood had to be replaced, also installed lots of other caravan bodyparts.

We search the web for a caravan and cannot find one. Than by cheer chance, John walks up to this old man, owner of a gypsy caravan. In his eighty, the man is well known as the gypsy caravan builder. Moreover, yes, he has one for sale. Very happy we make an appointment. Loaded with no experiences what so ever about caravans, we walk into a hug hangar and fall in love.

After the knowledge we have now we should have run away, but did not.

There it is.

Our dream caravan.

Wooden frame, big enough to stay right up inside, two tiny little doors upfront. A box to sit on, plenty of storage room and cute little windows.

Just in need for some adjustments to make it ours and we can already see us driving “along Gods roads”. The price is reasonable and in two hours, we have a caravan, no experience, no idea what to do next and no place to store it.

Just another challenge.

We find a place to store the wagon and space enough to do the adjustments. The list of caravan parts we need is much longer than we thought.

The roof is a bit leaking.

There is no toilet.

No bed.

No kitchen.

One window is almost rotten.

The color scheme (dark red) is not our favorite.

The box is too small.

The brakes do not work.

There is no pole.

Moreover, the caravan tyres are ready for replacement.

The rest is fine, thank you.

The caravan wheels are rubber, too. We do not right now replace them, knowing we traveling through Germany where caravan tyres are much cheaper, and we plan to buy them their. The wagons do not need to be licensed. All that's necessary are orange, triangular signs that indicate slow-moving vehicles, and a Haflinger picture on it.

Spacious

The interior of the wagon that's home is not exactly spacious. There's a sofa bed with storage underneath. That takes up the back half of the wagon. In front of the bed is a narrow walkway with book shelves, a propane cooking stove, a composting toilet and wardrobe closets.

Normally, we use our orange bicycle to get groceries and other supplies.

At the back, we have a storage place for caravan parts and horse supplies. On top of it, we can store hay.

The caravan accessory we replaced has cost us another $2000! Next time we look for a real good caravan manufacturer!
