Back to Czech

back to czech

Back in the Netherlands, we face the only option: Back to Czech! All our belongings are still there, only some papers and the clothes we wore during the accident we have with us.

The carriage is total loss and we leave it back in Czech Republic. There is no possibility to pick it up and transport it to the Netherlands. There is no use to, we can’t repair it.

Our first steps immediately after the accident where focused on John, the horses, the police, necessary payments and the insurance company.

Back in the Netherlands, we have to face the future.

Important part is still John’s operation. That will be on May 28 on a Wednesday. Let’s hope that gives him some pain relief.

Second and big part of all the decisions to take is how we transport Aysha and Isabella back home. No way, we leave this part of the hurdle in Czech behind! Again our “network” of people, we met on our journey, is helpful and the willingness to share addresses and telephone numbers hug.

Horse transport

Within two day’s and with the help of Dutch Mariska we find a transport company. A two- weekly drive from Hungary to the Netherlands is willing to pick up Aysha and Isabella in Decin, Czech and bring them over. No idea if the insurance company will pay that but no worry’s about that for now.

Then the carriage; the pictures shows how damaged it is and repairing is no option. Still there is some value on it like a solar panel, horse equipment, the horse harness, our books and all our clothes.

Our daughter Kiki say’s yes, when we ask her to companion me in a 9 hours drive back to Czech. I am very lucky not to face this alone. John frustration that he can’t help me is hug.

It’s a fine trip to Czech.

We both are happy able to talk for hours and hours. It’s almost a school outing with food, drinks and snacks. However, just the mere thought about what we lost in just one week fills my eyes with tears.

Back in Czech, everything is the same as we left it, a couple of days ago. Aysha and Isabella in a box, Little Vienna takes a run and jumps in my arms, licking my wet cheeks. The next hour she doesn’t leave me out of sight.

Cherised Memories

Than we have the arduous task to clear out the van. Every piece in this little home is a cherished memory to John and me.

The picture frames in the front painted in Dutch Castenray, on the meadow of a very warm family, little kids; Loes Sophie Willem and Joost playing around us.

The rainbow painted when I was still at work,

The solar panel we build in together with our son in law.

The leaded window with the sun and tulips pontifical above our bed un-able

to take it with us.

The colorful curtains,

The little bathroom in the back,

every little spot we build with our own hands.

Now we leave it behind.

The whole front bends down and we both slithering downwards because the contents of an olive-oil bottle covers the ground. Luckily, we can laugh about that.

In 40 Hours back and home again.

We have a little Van with us and with some stuffing and packing; we are able to collect the necessary things. We planned three days for this but my heart is breaking, I want to go home to John, and as soon as possible, we leave. Vienna is already lying on the front chair no planning to leave that place till we are back home.

After again 500 miles (a 10 hours drive) all our stuff is in a storage facility. Can’t remember where all our belongings are now. Something here and there, with family, friends and on my previous workplace its literal scattered around several places. Maybe time to collect them? Another difficult decision we have to take.

Back home John can’t wait to see me. Same for Vienna, with a big jump she land on his lap and stays there for the rest of the evening.

Back to Czech and back to the Netherlands within 40 hours. Can’t wait till the horses are back!
